GF Restaurants
Finding yummy gluten free restaurants might be one of the hardest parts of this journey. We’ll share where we try and what restaurants we’ll continue to visit!
We’ve been a little MIA lately because the end of the school year had so much to do - finishing the softball season (and baseball for her brother), choir concerts, final projects, tests, fun days, Apex glow runs and so much more. We were EXHAUSTED! Once Summer hit, we had to take a little break and slow down. But we have plenty of things we want to share this Summer, including our upcoming vacations and gluten free adventures!
One of our local adventures this week included one of our favorite gluten free bakeries in Columbus - Bake Me Happy! I’ve posted about them before because they are an amazing offering for the celiacs in Central Ohio. Everything they make is completely gluten free and delicious. We were at Nationwide Children’s Hospital for our girlie’s first checkup with her doctor since being diagnosed with celiac last year and he asked if we were going to stop at Bake Me Happy on our way home (more news about this great appointment soon). It was close-by, so of course we were!
We had some free time last Friday night and we decided to take our girlie to Condado for tacos. She loved them the last time we went, and they do a great job with gluten free (nearly everything on their menu is gluten free). This is one of our go-to restaurants!
Our girlie really enjoyed her gluten free dinner at Red Robin! We did some research on Find Me Gluten Free and Red Robin had really good reviews. When we ordered, we told the waitress that our daughter had celiac and asked about the preparation of the food.
Our girlie has found a new restaurant that she likes, Bibibop! My husband and I have been eating there for years, not even realizing that the entire menu is all gluten free. We love our bowls with lots of veggies and they do have a big selection of them, but our girlie likes hers a little less green. She orders it with white rice, chicken, cheese and egg and says it’s great.
Bake Me Happy is one of the gluten free bakeries in Columbus which means it’s one of our new favorite places! Our girlie has a sweet tooth and finding a bakery where she can eat everything is amazing!
Our first time there was a few months ago, before our girlie’s testing, when her doctor only suspected she might have celiac disease. He told us to go and check out his favorite bakery in town - Bake Me Happy. We did and quickly knew that this would be a great place for us if we found out she had celiac (which she did).
Happy New Year! Wishing you a wonderful 2025 where you can enjoy plenty of amazing gluten free goodies!
Over our girlie’s Christmas break, we did our yearly breakfast outing with my parents. It’s a fun way to kick off the kid’s Christmas vacation. I did a lot of research and found a post on Instagram from @columbusglutenfreeliving about the Original Pancake House of Central Ohio. You can order nearly everything on the menu as a gluten free entree.
Going to restaurants may be one of the most difficult things to do with a 10 year old who has celiac disease. She’s old enough to remember all of the yummy food that she’s eaten in the past and it makes her very sad to go somewhere and have to order a gluten free meal. One place that we’ve found that she can eat something that she still enjoys is Chick-Fil-A!
Welcome to our Gluten Free blog! We’re so excited to document this journey - not only to share with others going through this same experience, but for ourselves. It’s a live diary for us to remember what our girl likes, loves and just plain thinks is gross. (she’s 10!)
